Missed call text-back for plumbers
Updated September 21, 2026
Missed call text-back for plumbers texts the caller back within about 30 seconds of a call you could not answer, asks where they are, what is wrong and whether the shut-off is reachable, and emails you the lead. AnswerBot does this for $129 CAD a month. No AI voice answers your phone. The homeowner gets a text from a local number, and you call them back with the details already in front of you.
A plumbing call is different from most trades calls in one way that matters: the clock is running on damage, not comfort. Somebody watching water spread across a basement floor is not going to leave a voicemail and wait. They are going down the search results until a human being responds, and the shop that answers in the next few minutes gets a job that was worth the same to all of you.
What the text actually asks a plumbing caller
These are the live defaults, not a sample script. Every caller is asked the first three; the fourth is the plumbing-specific one.
| It asks | Why that one |
|---|---|
| The nearest intersection or address | So you know before you call back whether the job is in your service area, and roughly how far out you are. |
| The caller's first name | So the callback opens like a person calling a person. |
| What is wrong: leak, no hot water, clog | In the caller's own words, typed, not a message someone took down over the phone. |
| Whether the shut-off is reachable | The plumbing-specific question. On a live leak it decides everything: if they can reach it, the damage stops while you drive. If they cannot, you may want to talk them through it the moment you call back. |
| A photo, on Growth and Pro | A picture of the leak, the tank or the pooling water usually tells you service call or replacement before you leave the job you are on. |
What a missed call is worth to a plumbing shop
Worked through with numbers you can replace. These are assumptions, not measurements:
- •10 calls a week you cannot get to, because you are under a sink or driving
- •An average ticket of $350, which is a service call rather than a repipe
- •One in four of those would become a job if somebody got back to them fast
That is roughly 10 jobs a month against a $129 plan, and the first recovered job pays for the best part of three months of it. Halve the close rate and the case still holds. The two numbers that move the answer are your ticket and how fast you call back, which is the part this changes.
Run it on your own numbersNo AI voice on your phone
A homeowner standing in water does not want to negotiate with a robot receptionist. AnswerBot never puts a voice on the line. The missed caller gets a plain text from a local number, answers in their own time, and you call them back.
If someone texts "can I talk to a person", the answer is that the owner will call them back. The text is the bridge to you, not a replacement for you.
Who this is for, and who it is not for
For: owner-operators and 1 to 5 truck plumbing shops
You answer your own phone when your hands are free and miss it when they are not. Service and repair work, residential or light commercial.
Not for: shops with a dispatcher
If someone picks up every call already, missed calls are not your problem and this will not earn its money.
Not a booking tool
It captures the lead and hands it to you. It does not book the slot or quote the job, and a caller who asks for a price is told you will call back.
What it costs
Starter is $129 CAD a month for 25 engaged leads and one location. Growth is $199 for 75 engaged leads, photo capture and up to three locations. Pro is $349 for unlimited engaged leads, your own intake questions and up to ten locations. Billed annually those are $109, $169 and $296 a month, and USD is the same number. The trial runs 14 days, a card is required at signup, and nothing is charged during it. Setup is about five minutes: one conditional call forwarding code dialled from the business phone, and you keep your existing number.
